HOW DID TNC START? Tuesday Night Casualties arose in 2003 from a collaboration between two long-time Brisbane musicians - Jason Elliot (Huupercon, Ubique Trio, Chuck Nee) and Allan Turton (Travis, Huupercon). Jason's solo album, 'Casualties (Small But True)' , a collection of ambient tunes of electric guitar, became a source of pilfering for Allan. Odd squeaks, noises and entire riffs were sampled, transformed and set against a range of other instruments and beats. The first reworking of the album, resulted in the release of EP 'Detours' in 2004. The second installment, "Tangents', is scheduled for digital release early 2005. Interestingly, each song on the 2 EPs draws samples from the corresponding song on Jason's album. For example, the first track on 'Detours' uses samples from the first track on 'Casualties (Small But True)'.

WHAT IS TNC? The music of Tuesday Night Casualties skirts the fringes of ambient electronica soundscapes and instrumental hip hop. It can sound at times like a peculiar marriage between contemporary artists Air and DJ Shadow, and 1970s Pink Floyd and Jean Michel Jarre. "Electronica, proggy atmospherics and cut-&-paste sample collage all play a part in this distinctive, imaginative work."
